QuiltCon 2026: "Radiance" & "Jelly Roll Jumble"

We are so excited to share with you our two student quilts that will be hanging at QuiltCon 2026!!   Both quilts were completed at Cut & Sew PHL this year and were original designs by each youth quilter.  In addition to designing and piecing everthing independenly, both quilters also *longarmed* and finished their quilts as well.  Did we mention these kids are 12 and 13 years old?! And these are biiiiiiig quilts?!

"Radiance" was created by N.W., a 13-year-old sewist who has been sewing with us for about five years now.  She wanted to create a brightly colored, bed sized quilt to match her bedroom and decided on a rainbow jelly roll paired with a black background to really make the colors pop!  As a little exercise in letting go of control, N.W. decided to place all her fabric strips in a box and randomly pull the next piece when making her quilt top.  The only decision she allowed herself was which side of the quilt top the next piece should be attached.  The result is a gorgeous, improv style quilt full of her favorite bright and cheery colors.

"Jelly Roll Jumble" was created by H.W., age 12 -- our repeat QuiltCon kid!  H.W. had a quilt in QuiltCon 2025 in Phoenix and had the time of her life at the show!  She attended our Quilt Camp in the summer of 2025 and got to work on her next masterpiece.  She saved up her babysitting money to purchase a couple of jelly rolls in her favorite colors: pastels!  She came up with this alternating rail fence block design and was able to finish it in time to longarm it herself as well.  In addition to the beautiful quilt top--and it's sheer size!-- she was also able to create a custom backing which features a large sawtooth star with her name and date embroidered in the middle.

If you'd like to show your support for these kids and the work we do in the studio, please check out The QuiltCon 2026 Collection for this year's swag!
