Come try your hand at fabric manipulation! We will learn a handful of techniques to create texture and form on the surface of fabric. Processes like pleating, smocking, furrowing and trapunto will be covered. Students will walk away with a collection of samples and new skills to elevate their sewing projects!
Basic hand and machine sewing skills recommended.

Your instructor for this class will be local multidisciplinary artist (and Spool School instructor!), Dot Jackson.  She works with fiber, construction material and artist books to investigate themes of the body and the home. Her work has been shown nationally and internationally, most recently in NYC, England and Iceland. Dot is a founding member of Mouse, an artist-run gallery in Detroit, MI. She earned her MFA in Fiber from Cranbrook Academy of Art.
