Come together in community and help complete the No Borders Community Quilt.
This project was initiated by local artisan quilter Cait Nolan (@caitmnolan) in response to the recent escalation of I C E raids, increased detention and cruel deportation of immigrants living in the US.
Over 90 participants contributed flying geese blocks which have been pieced together into a beautiful quilt top. The flying geese block style was chosen to honor migration as a universal human right.
Now comes the work of completing the quilt. This too will be a communal effort.
Cut & Sew PHL will host a No Borders Quilting Bee on October 18th from 2:30 - 4:30.
Participants will use cotton thread to hand quilt and embellish the No Borders Quilt.
No experience is required to participate and all materials will be provided.
This gathering will be small and registration is required.
If you can’t make it to this event there will be more No Borders Quilting Bees coming up in November at different locations around the Philadelphia Area.
