The Makeup Date listed is in case we need to cancel a class due to weather, instructor illness, etc. If your child misses a class, they are welcome to attend a different section after it's been cleared with our staff (one time only please).
In our weekly sewing classes for beginners, students learn basic sewing skills and work through beginner-friendly projects together with their classmates. Guided instruction ensures that students learn foundational skills to build upon as they become more experienced in sewing. We'll take a vote on project ideas on the first day so students can have a say in what they make!
This class is for students age 8+ who are beginners at sewing or who could benefit from a structured setting where all students make the same project alongside each other. Don't worry, there will still be time sprinkled in for Free Sew! We keep classes small (max. of 6) so that each student gets ample instruction, attention, and encouragement. All are welcome in this space and are encouraged to be their truest selves.
Materials and equipment are included.
At checkout, *if you're new to Cut & Sew*, please include the following information in the "Notes" section:
- Your child's name, age, pronouns
- The name & age of an emergency contact & their cell number
- A bit about your child's sewing experience
Our weekly classes run throughout the academic school year and follow the school calendar of the School District of Philadelphia. Enrollment is by quarter:
