Calling all kids with big ideas! This camp will be jam-packed with skills that students will use to make their visions come true. Some of the techniques that will be covered include fabric piecing, alterations, and embellishing. The focus will be on creating in a way that limits waste and uses materials that are upcycled. In this camp, we will spend time brainstorming and gathering ideas and learn how to collect information in order to plan a project. We will visit some places in the community where we will learn how we can be stewards to our planet through making. Students will come up with their own environmentally friendly projects under the guidance of the instructor. We will provide suggestions such as altering or mending an outfit, or using otherwise discarded scraps for a quilt, as well as a variety of projects that can be used for good in the community - the sky's the limit! In this camp, kids are free to use their imagination to come up with any project that is environmentally friendly or sustainable in some way.
