Join instructor Krystle Merchant to quilt a wall hanging of Birch Point by The Blanket Statement. The pattern was inspired by the sunsets through the birch trees of Manitoba and incorporates the principles of modern quilting in the design. The class is perfect for the novice who is comfortable with their sewing machine and ready to try quilting.
You'll start with a pre-cut quilt kit for this class so you don't need to stress about precise cutting--we'll do that for you! In this class, you will learn and practice chain piecing and web piecing for fast assembly. You will use straight line quilting and the machine binding process to leave class with a finished wall hanging.

- Birch Point quilt pattern: paper pattern or PDF pattern

Quilt Kit
We encourage you to purchase a precut quilt kit (listed above). It includes precut pieces for the quilt top, coordinating binding and backing fabric, and batting. It does not include the thread you will need to piece and quilt your wall hanging.
Alternatively, you can choose to bring your own fabric. If you select this option, please acquire the pattern ahead of time and prepare your pieces according to the cutting instructions before coming to class.
Participants should be able to independently thread machine, load bobbin, and sew a straight line. If you need to start there, please take our Introduction to the Sewing Machine Class first!
