We've teamed up with Quilting for Good to get as many quilts longarmed as possible! After you've taken our Longarm Basics Class, you'll be eligible to participate in this quilt project to provide quilts to local families facing homelessness.
We're offering a reduced hourly rental rate ($12/hr vs $20/hr) for this project--or any quilt you're planning to donate, really!
Here's how it'll work...
1) You'll purchase one hour of (nonrefundable) longarm rental time and, in the Order Notes at checkout, you'll tell us when you'd like to come in. The longarm is most available on the weekends (Fri 11-6, Sat & Sun 12-5 unless rented or reserved for class, see calendar here) and can be made available during the rest of the week depending on staff availability.
2) You'll come in at your scheduled time to find a quilt kit prepared for you by Q4G. You'll load the quilt independently and longarm it to your liking. This is a chance for you to get more practice on the longarm so have fun with it! If you would benefit from a Longarm Refresher to get started, that is an option!
3) Once you're finished longarming, you'll fold the quilt up and leave it with us at the studio. You'll checkout and pay for the remainder of your rental time (and $5 thread and needle fee) and we'll arrange for a Q4G pickup. Q4G members finish the quilts and get them to a local shelter for families facing homelessness. (If you'd like to help finish quilts, please let Q4G know!).
If the discounted rate is still a barrier for you to participate in this project, please reach out to us at hello@cutandsewphl.com
